What time do we join the barge?
Guests join the barge at 2pm at the start of the cruise and leave at 11am on the final day
Do you take children?
Yes, we take accompanied children of 7 yrs and over.
Are their any extras to pay for?
Our prices include everything from when guests first arrive at the barge
until they step off the barge at the end of the week. All meals and standard
activity equipment and instruction are included.
Things not included are:
Drinks from the bar, optional extra activities such as ponytrekking, golf,
waterskiing and white water rafting. Transport before and after the holiday.
How do we get back to where you joined 'Fingal'?
We can arrange a transport service that will take guests from where they
finished the cruise back to where they joined 'Fingal' where their car
may be parked, or to the bus or railway station at the town (Inverness
or Fort William) near their start point. The cost for this is £12.50
per head.
Alternatively the finish points (Banavie or Corpach and Muirtown) are
a short taxi ride from town (Fort William and Inverness respectively)
from where they can pick up public transport.
Is car parking available?
Yes, at both start points. At Muirtown (Inverness) there is a locked compound,
at Banavie and Corpach (Fort William) open car parking is available next
to our pontoon.
What are the nearest airports?
Inverness is the closest but Glasgow can also be used. See our joining

What activity equipment do you carry on board?
Mountain Bikes, open canoes, a 4 person sailboat, two Topper singlehanded
sailing boats and windsurfers, as well as wetsuits, buoyancy aids and
waterproofs etc.
Is 240v electricity available?
Yes, a generator runs during the daytime. Power points are available to
guests in the saloon and passageway.
What is the food like?
Fingal has a well earned reputation for generous amounts of excellent
food. Three meals a day are prepared by a cook and an assistant with teas
and coffees available for guests to help themselves. We sell drinks as
well - wine by the bottle and cans of beer, lager and soft drinks. Click here to read what past guests have said.
What is the accommodation like?
Each two berth cabin has a large (3'6") lower berth and a standard
(2'6") berth above. The berths are 6'3" long. There is a wash
hand basin, a radiator, good stowage and a large opening window.
How many guests do you take?
We run with a maximum group of 12 people.
How many toilets and showers are there?
New for 2008. Each cabin will have ensuite facilities including super powerful hot shower and quiet toilets.
Am I too old for this sort of holiday?
People of all ages come and have a great time with us.
Do I have to do all the activities?
You can come and be highly active or you can have a more relaxed time
and do very little, it's up to you.
What sort of places do you stop at night?
There is a wide variety of places we visit, from tying up at a canal-side
village to anchoring out in a loch in more remote locations.
Is it possible to get to you by public transport?
Yes, there are good connections to Fort William and Inverness by rail
and coach.
Can I book on as a single person?
Yes. We charge a single supplement.
What crew are there?
We have a skipper and a mate (activity instructor),
a cook and an assistant, and a assistant instructor/ bosun who helps look after the barge and
drives the safety boat which we also use for getting ashore when we lie
at anchor.
